m-learning : current links page
Welcome. This is a page of the current links and publications released by the m-learning team at Tribal CTAD. You should find most of them on our main website as well:
A few conference presentations:
MoLeNET launch : The Mobile Learning Network (MoLeNET) is a collaboration between colleges moving into mobile learning, supported by £6M of capital funding. We are on the steering group, and launched our "3 phases of engagement" concept at the opening event, July 2007.
- You can find the presentation here (pdf: 4566KB)
MLearn 2006 : We presented a couple of things on this ever growing international platform. One was a condensed workshop covering a similar theme to the handheld conference, below, and another was a "paper on the fly" looking at our work in delivering to the skills for life agenda using mobile learning.
- You can find the workshop presentation here (pdf: 2086KB)
HandheldLearning 2006 : The now legendary gathering of mobile practitioners in London. Geoff Stead of and Jo Colley of Tribal CTAD looked at how mobile learning could transform what we think of as personalised learning, as well as running a few workshops in the practicalities of getting started, and making your own mobile resources.
- You can find Geoff and Jo's main presentation here (pdf: 2473KB).
Engaging the Digital Learner : This was another innovative approach to virtual presentation, with a video podcast from different gurus broadcast on different screens around a huge hall. Our slightly cheesy (homemade!) video podcast (34Mb!!).
JISC Innovating e-Learning 2006: Transforming Learning Experiences conference: An innovative virtual conference hosted by online-conference.net, with pre-recorded virtual presentations, and both synchronous and asynchronous dialogs with presenters and delegates. Geoff Stead of Tribal CTAD, and Lilian Soon of xlearn discuss some of their shared experiences of m-learning in FE, looking at how it can transform current provision.
- You can find Geoff and Lilian's presentation with full text and audio transcripts on Exploring the role of learning with mobile technologies. If you want to download a copy, use the non-audio powerpoint (pps: 2156KB) or pdf version (pdf: 1790KB). The notes on each page are transcripts of the audio files from the audio version.
- Steven Heppel's Keynote: Bringing creativity into practice
- James Clay's excellent tips on making your learning materials M-ready
